And as someone quite literally in the middle of this scenario without much choice of tuning it out I have to honestly say they're wrong. The entire scenario has me bewildered how our community can be so cultish about promoting our game but yet wanting to keep those who want to give it an honest try out at the same time. In fact a lot of the toxicity I've personally seen have come from existing Final Fantasy players having this idea in their head that the Asmongold community or WoW communities are inherently toxic and should be chased out. Even on the first day of streaming the total number of actions was below the current average. You can see in the data presented above that while the average number of actions per day is increasing the total number of actions taken is still within what we were seeing before this whole thing started. not really? For the increase in traffic we have seen the amount of trolls that have come with it are well within what I would call expected margins. The question everyone likely has is How are the users? I bet they're toxic. The traffic uptake has created a massive workload for community leaders and even caused the FFXIV Discord to recruit an additional SIX moderators to deal with the workload increase. Where r/ffxiv just celebrated it's 500k user mark about 2 weeks ago we're currently looking to hit 600k by mid August.

The effect from the above is undeniable: The first Asmongold stream created a major spike in activity across FFXIV communities in a manner we've never seen before. July 3: The day Asmongold first streams Final Fantasy XIV

Moderation Actions Taken on the FFXIV Discord I know no one really asked for it but I'm writing this today to give an insider insight into the effect in which the WoW-exodus which I largely credit to Asmondgold has had on the Final Fantasy XIV community and to hopefully dispel some myths about the effect everything has had on our gaming communities. I'm Eanae, owner of the Partnered Final Fantasy XIV Discord, owner and developer of the non-profit Discord bot "Kupo Bot", a long time moderator of r/ffxiv and a founding member of the Final Fantasy Community Association (a server founded by r/ffxiv and The Balance Discord in order to promote healthy relationships between community owners, developers, and streamers as well as share information on potential trouble users and organize cross-over events between our communities). You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.Hello! For someone who has been involved in the background of the Final Fantasy XIV community for 8 years now chances are you've probably never heard of me. While this wouldn’t be the first time a game has seen increased interest thanks to streamers, it remains to be seen how long it will take!įinal Fantasy XIV is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The MMORPG set a new simultaneous record for Steam players, and it’s likely that this was due to increased interest from Asmongold and CohhCarnage, who also recently started streaming the game. It’s impossible to tell if this is legitimate or not, but if it is, it will hopefully deter others from harassing Asmongold in future streams!Īsmongolds streams from Final Fantasy XIV already have a significant impact on the game’s popularity. Apparently, Square Enix has put in place a temporary ban on harassment violations and is considering terminating the account entirely. Reddit poster ParkSojin shared a post on 4chan of someone who claims to be the gamer who rides the whale. This particular player did this for hours during the stream, which was a headache not only for the streamer but also for the viewer. 7 s second stream, he encountered someone who acted in malice a player riding a whale mount has actively tried to prevent the streamer from clicking on NPCs and targets.
